As a five-year-old, what did you say you wanted to be when you grew up?
A marine biologist. I’ve been obsessed with the ocean and all creatures in it since I was a toddler. As a kid, visiting the aquarium was better than Christmas, and I still love going as an adult.
What’s your favorite ice cream flavor?
Ben and Jerry’s Red Velvet Cake. I’m a sucker for anything red velvet.
What languages (besides English) do you speak?
I took intensive German in college and was conversational while I was still practicing it everyday. People think German is an ugly language, but the more you speak it and learn about it the more beautiful it gets. Plus, I’m over half German and learning the language made me feel closer to my roots.
What’s your guilty pleasure website?
Buzzfeed. I take literally every single quiz they post. Including “What Kind of Sloth are You?” and “Can We Guess Your Taste in Music?” I have a problem.
What’s the best city you’ve ever visited?
It’s a tie between Seattle and Vancouver. A couple of friends and I took a road trip up there all the way from Northern California, and I fell in love with the Pacific Northwest. It’s absolutely breathtaking.
What is the least glamorous job you’ve ever had?
Working retail at Hollister. Folding gigantic piles of clothes during Black Friday madness is my absolute worst memory of a job. I’m cringing just thinking about it.
What are you irrationally afraid of?
Cockroaches. They’re the worst.
What is one of your hidden talents?
Making mixed CDs for people. I know it’s kind of old school, but I really enjoy sorting through my music catalogue with a specific person’s tastes in mind and creating a personalized cohesive playlist. I love introducing people to their new favorite song.
If you could marry a food, what would it be?
Pizza is my soul mate.
